This is a machined tall hat designed for ren faire usage. It is covered in red woven wool. The crown is covered with a pleated oval of fabric, like several of the hats shown on pg 33 of Patterns of Fashion. It's decorated with a thin velvet ribbon, and a group of red iridescent coque feathers bound with black velvet. It was sent off to be sold at a small faire by some friends. Incidentally, I did draft my own pattern for this.
