This is a machined tall hat designed for ren faire usage. It is covered in an embroidered acetate (look, I know it's not period, but the fabric is absolutely lovely). The crown is covered with a pleated oval of fabric, like several of the hats shown on pg 33 of Patterns of Fashion. It's decorated with a striped organza ribbon band and half rosette, peacock flossies, and back iridescent coque feathers. It was sent off to be sold at a small faire by some friends. Incidentally, I did draft my own pattern for this.
