This is a machined tall hat designed for ren faire usage. It is covered in brown corduroy. The crown is covered with a pleated oval of fabric, like several of the hats shown on pg 33 of Patterns of Fashion. It's decorated with a wide gimp band and a purchased feather pad I had that happened to match the color perfectly. It was sent off to be sold at a small faire by some friends .Incidentally, I did draft my own pattern for this.
