"Tiger Tails" is spun from rovings picked up from two different vendors at the Renegade craft faire. The first is an orange/yellow/red hand-dyed (by someone else) corriedale batt, and the second is a natural brown wool roving from, um, a sheep. The roving was slightly greasy, but spun up well. The batt.... Well, let's just say I hadn't started out to make this thick and thin of a yarn.
I had one bobbin full of each of the two wools, and I plied them. This was actually the first thing I plied on my spinning wheel, and it's a little bit of an adjustment from plying on a spindle. Actually, it's easier, for those if us who are a little two dyslexic to remember which direction the spindle was spinning when we made the yarn.... I can handle "wheel go forwards, wheel go backwards" much better than I grasp "left, right" or "S, Z" any day. And "clockwise, counterclockwise"? Um, no, seriously, because I never look down at the floor to see a clock, thanks so much. That one totally never worked for me.
Anyway, I ended up with this totally cheery, nearly comical little yarn. I can't explain it, but it's made everyone who's seen it giggle a little and go ga over it. It's great. It's cute. It looks like a bowl full of baby tiger's tails. :)
Stats: 7-11 WPI, 2 ply w/ novelty yarn, 184 yds, thick/thin character
