"Holmes"

"Holmes" is spun from navajo-churro, in natural black and natural brown. I've heard some slightly mixed reviews of navajo-churro as a fiber, so I wanted to try it myself. It spins up fine (it's actually one of the best experiences I've had with a long draw so far, even though it was one of the very first-- takes no real thought to get it to work out). I wouldn't want it right next to my skin, but it would be great for outerwear.

The yarn was created from 4oz of navajo-churro fiber -- 2 each of the black and the brown. I made a skein of black, and a skein of brown. They both appear to be the same in terms of WPI and all that. I had brown left over. Go fig. It's also worth noting that the two colors, coming from two different animals, had slightly different characters. The brown spun up slightly more easily than the black, which didn't draft quite as easily. Ain't genetics grand?

I called it "Holmes" because the plied yarn reminded me of a very english tweed.
