"Fool's Gold"

"Fool's Gold" is spun from the same superwash merino used in "Dragonfly Dance". It is plied with gold embroidery thread. The name comes from the fact that I had to be a fool, or possibly a screaming idiot, to try to use embroidery thread off a spool to do this. It was awful. Put the spool on something if you try it -- don't think you'll be able to unwind as you ply! The gold thread went a little loopy once the skein was no longer under tension on the bobbin -- even wound off onto a niddy noddy, there wasn't as much tension as there had been while the yarn was being spun. There's a lesson here, but I'm not really sure what it is....

(Before anyone decides to go getting all technical on me, I do know what the lesson is: don't put quite so much tension on things when you're spinning. It's just that I had such a total fight with this one......)

This is one that went up for sale on etsy because frankly, I'm still made at it and don't want to see it again. Pttttthhhhhrrrriiiiiibbbbbt.
