How to Draft Gored Skirts for Period Costumes

If you’re looking for a way to draft gored skirts for your costumes, this is the eBook for you. The method shown is one I’ve worked out over the years, in an attempt to find a possibly period way to create a gored skirt. The instructions can be easily adapted to create a pattern using nothing more than a straight edge and notched tape.

I don’t like to buy books without seeing what’s inside, so here are a few quick peeks:

Table of Contents: How to Draft Gored Skirts

Sample Page: How to Draft Gored Skirts

Free taste: Page 8, showing the last steps of the draft, and guidelines for selecting a hem and hem allowance.

I’ve wanted to write a book for years now. I decided to write it in individual chapters, and let you decide which ones you do and don’t want. All of the pages are laid out so you can hole-punch them and put them into a three ring binder. (Tip: if you put them into sheet protectors instead, you can write measurements and notes with a dry-erase marker!)

      Hey, there!
It’s in your email – you should have a message from missa(at)sempstress.org that contains the eBook in the account associated with your paypal account. I just checked the copy the site sends me, and everything looks good. If you don’t see it in your inbox, please check your spam filter! Or if you want, you can email me from a different account and I can send it there.
Thank you for supporting the site with your purchase, and I hope you enjoy the book! :)

      Hi, Jenn,

It should be nearly instant – maybe 3-4 hours lag when PayPal is feeling pokey. The problem right now is that the sent me email indicating that they were changing things up, and I should do some stuff, and lo and behold, it’s not quite working. I am looking into it! I apologize for the delay in seeing/responding to you message. It was just my birthday, and I got distracted by the whole celebration thing. ;) (She says, as though something amazing happened and it wasn’t just a “I give myself permission to take the next three days easy” sitch.)

      Sorry about that!
