One of the problems with wearing costumes at an outdoor event is that you are more or less at the mercy of the weather. After all that work on the underdress, the forecasts came through for hot, damn hot, and damn hotter over the summer. The night before I wore the dress, I was madly making a lining with built in stiffening for it, so that I wouldn't have to wear the extra layer of the underdress. All in all, it turned out rather well. And, even though I wasn't quite trying for this one, the dress gives a marvelous illusion of being jsut about to fall off (even though it's quite securely on). The white chemise looking bit under the lacing in the front is just that -- the chemise. There's nothing over or under it, other than me. I wore my goldworked veil with the dress, because I remember reading some edict that required courteseans to wear a yellow veil.
