For once, I feel like I've been onto a fad from the beginning.
I started keeping a diary of a dress that I was working on two years ago,
and I've been seeing a number of them popping up since. Frankly, I think
it's a great idea. Not only does it let all of the people who didn't do
the sewing see how it happened, it's also an invaluable process for the
costumer. It makes you really think about what you have done, and there's
nothing quite like the knowledge that you're recording everything you're
doing to keep you on the straight and narrow with your technique! (Ok,
I still cheat. But it has helped me get a lot more honest knowing when
I can get away with it.) My goal was to collect literally weeks
worth of diaries that will keep you awake at night, savoring all the scintillating
details of other costumer's work, weeping over the trials and tribulations
of silks and velvets, and laughing at the comedy that is a costumer with
a Good Idea(tm). Um, wait, no, that wasn't it. Phooey. It doesn't matter, because
Festive Attyre has a list of
all the diaries out there, and Jenny is *much* better about maintaining that sort of thing than
I am. What I have here is just my work. It'll at least
help kill a dull afternoon at the office.
